What are some fetishes/things that you don’t normally see in bondage videos that viewers like yourself would like to see incorporated in bondage videos?

Oh, my. I could probably go on and on and on with ideas.

First, I'd like to see the element of surprise. I've found that many bondage videos have a predictable structure: there is an optional on-screen tying, followed by the bottom squirming around helplessly, followed by the dominate/rigger progressively making the bottom's bondage more restrictive and/or making the bottom's predicament more severe. Furthermore, many video producers use the same restraint techniques over and over again. The fact that many videos come with descriptions that explain the entire video's contents doesn't help, either.

I'd like to be surprised: maybe the damsel in distress escapes, or maybe she doesn't. Maybe the bottom could turn tables on the top during the binding process. What about having the top display a list of toys before a restrained bottom and mulling over which toy to use? Perhaps a video could start with the bottom bound but with no context on why, then flash back to show how and why he/she was bound.

Second, I wish there was more "love bondage" videos out there, meaning that the video has a more romantic and sensual tone between the top and bottom. A lot of bondage videos have become more "hard core" over the years, using more stringent ties, more spanking, more punishment, etc. That can be nice, but it seems there's a lack of more gentle romantic-style bondage videos. Watching a top seduce a bottom would be really something.

Granted, these sorts of things probably require significant changes to how videos are made, so if you'd like a simpler suggestion, I'd like to see more escape challenge and escape artist videos. Bandana cleave gags are also great.

I agree 100% definitely would like to see a more romantic side with bondage. I agree the element of surprise and not knowing what is going to come next is way better than just doing a script/ scene because you already know what’s going to happen and the tying up in bondage is usually all the same I agree . Would love to hear more as I found your response helpful.

Regarding videos that have more surprise, I think the first step is to vary the method of bondage employed. With all due respect to those who make bondage videos, there are some artists that have a particular tie that they use a bit too frequently. For example, many Dominic Wolfe videos have the model tied in a hogtie, and he almost always uses rope. I'm fond of his stringent ties, but variety is the spice of life. If you vary bondage position (hands behind, hands in front, hands overhead) and bondage materials (rope, cuffs, arm binders, straitjackets), then you get variety.

Beyond that, adding an element of surprise requires creativity. To be honest, I think it's very difficult; I've been trying to think of ideas and haven't had many, but I'll share what I came up with.

The first thing that comes to mind is playing with time. Most videos start by introducing the bottom's situation to the viewer, then binding the bottom, and then proceeding from there. By the time the bottom is bound and struggling, the viewer knows who the bottom is and why they're in the situation in which they're bound. Let's say you start a video in the middle of the story: the viewer first sees a bottom all tied up and struggling. Who is this person? Why is he/she struggling? Are they trying to escape? Trying to make a phone call to warn a friend of danger? Trying to impress a lover or win a bet? The viewer doesn't know, and that uncertainty can draw the viewer in. The video then cuts to an earlier point in time which then explains how and why the bottom got tied up to begin with. Maybe the bottom is an escape artist and took a challenge. Maybe the bottom was robbed. Or maybe the bottom is actually the villain and tied up by the hero! Using non-linear storytelling can put the viewer into a state in which they want to know more just to understand what is going on. It can also get the viewer to make assumptions and then later break those assumptions. For examples in main-stream media, I'd recommend the movies "Momento" and "Bound."

A second approach is to "subvert expectation." Think of what the audience expects and then do something different. For example, many bottoms play the role of "hero/heroine" and many tops play the role of "villain" in many videos. If your video first portrays the bottom and top in these roles but then later reveals that the bottom is, in fact, the "villain" and the top is the "hero," you surprise the viewer by lulling them into the expectation that all is as they expect but then subverting their expectation by revealing that, in fact, things were not as they seemed.

In a similar fashion, you can use repetition to build up an expectation and then subvert it. Let's say you have a female bottom that is captured and tied up. Her friend then comes to rescue her. She gets captured by the same person again, and then her friend comes and rescues her again. Now, the third time she gets captured, the viewer is expecting her friend to come rescue her a third time. But what if the friend doesn't? What if, this time, we find that the friend decided to help the kidnapper, or we discover that the friend has been kidnapped, too? The viewer's expectation has been broken, and the viewer is surprised. The first two rescues established a pattern that the viewer expected to continue, but by breaking the pattern, the viewer's expectation is subverted.

In short, you might think about what it is that makes existing videos predictable. What is it that you're expecting that always seems to happen? What implicit assumptions do you make that existing videos never challenge? Do the characters always seem to be in the same roles? Do they always have the same motivations to do what they do? Do they always seem to want the same things? That might help you determine what you could do different.

I agree with some of the ideas above. In short, I'd like "something to happen," a story. There're too many videos with the tied girl meowing under the gag for some minutes, and that's it.

Obviously, in many videos, there's the snoop or spy girl captured, a bit of drama etc... But these are done, often, in an unimaginative way.

I agree I definitely would like to see different positions where the bottom is tied up, and I agree with the videos having a script makes the video predictable. I would rather be spontaneous and unpredictable in the videos so the viewer doesn’t even know what’s going to happen. I don’t see many women escaping bondage restraints and getting revenge on the person doing the tying up that’s something I would like to see more.

Three number things:
1. If it is just a model getting tied, I like it when she is talking about how it feels.
2. I like a story, where there is a plausible reason for getting tied.
3. I'd like to see more "love bandage".

It seems like there's a few people that would like to see more story-driven bondage videos (i.e., videos with plot).

If there's anyone here reading this that makes bondage videos, I'm curious: why are there so few story-driven bondage videos? Is the demand for more story-driven videos too small? Or is making story-driven videos somehow prohibitively expensive (e.g., need to hire writers to make the stories, models are trained more for modeling than acting, videos would be too long and therefore cost too much for most viewers)?

I hope I don't offend those that make bondage videos, but most bondage videos I've seen are, as one poster put it, mainly a women tied up and mewing into a gag. I'm just curious as to what market forces drive videos to be this way.

I agree with what other people have said. I want more romantic love bondage but for me personally I want to see more romantic lesbian love bondage that actually appeals to gay women. Oh and for the love of god! Enough with the name calling and over use of certain curse words. Its really off putting and not even a tiny bit sexy.

Also more fun sexy flirty playful bondage. I am so tired of the same thing over and over. Its almost always a hogtie which is uncomfortable to be in and not a lot of fun. Also the position doesn't really allow someone to really play with the intimate parts of your body as much as I would like.
Fancy dress, sexy costumes and bondage. The bondage scene just keeps on trying to get more strict, more serious, more intense, more extreme. BORING!

Lets be honest we like bondage and erotica because its fun, its a playful fantasy and lets us escape from the tedious real world and actually enjoy ourselves for a short time even its its self bondage.

Some producers are very creative in stories and use models that can act at least a bit. The majority stick to a long, detailed exposition of the binding process (can become really boring in my opinion) or the model meowing and struggling a bit. Creating a storyline needs some ability (acting, editing, learning some lines). For some producers it's a hassle even to change the camera angle, they always do the same thing for a quick easy buck, so I fear this is not going to change.

Crossdressed (not able to pass as a woman), tied up, and locked out of the house. With the neighbors looking on…

I suspect it is, in part, because "acting" is actually much harder than most people believe it it - and most "porn stars" are remarkably bad at it. The Storyline bondage shoots that I have seen - mostly at Insex or it's offshoots like Device Bondage - are horribly bad. So bad, they distract from the turnon.

OK, Here's some ideas that I rarely or never see - probably for good reason :)

1. Femdom (either male or female bottom) where the dom is actually relaxed and comfortable. I mean seriously - if your a dom, really a dom, and you're in control of a scene are you going to wear horribly uncomfortable heels and leather clothing? Or are you going to wear a comfortable T, jeans and tennis shoes?

2. Selfbondage videos that don't look like there is a full production crew in the room. Most selfbondage video's, the premise is that someone is all alone and tying themselves up - yet the camera is being carried around, the camera person(s) are leaving shadows in the shot, etc. Why not show the model staring into a GoPro as she turns it on, then moving across the room and placing another GoPro. From then on, neither camera moves and you can see the other camera in the background of each shot. THEN have the model go into the center of the cameras and do self bondage. THEN I might be able to "suspend disbelief".

3. Long term captivity or imprisonment type scenes. Put the sub in a cage, chain the somewhere (like outdoors in a basement) or lock them in a cell. Put an analog clock clearly in the scene. Then use a mixture of time lapse and real time video to show days of bondage. You can run the video in time lapse while not much is going on, but when something does happen, such as feeding time, hosing off, or the dom "playing" with the sum, then slow down to real time.
The problem with this is you probably couldn't pay a bondage model enough to spend a week making this type scene.

4. And someone else mentioned the psychology of bondage. I really like post interviews with submissives - but frankly most of the questions that get asked are really lame or superficial. That may be because most porn models aren't really lifestyle players and "perform" for the money. Back when INsex had a really active user chat feed during live programs I used to constantly ask PD about the model's motivation - was this a lifestyle player? Was she a true masochist? Was the in it for the "challenge" - ie to prove she could do it similar to why some people climb mountains (more bondage models than you would expect fall into this category), or could she really care less about anything but the money. Sadly most professional models (no matter what they say on camera) fall into this last category.
