If you want the person to feel helpless, then behind. Has to be.

To the rear for security. If in front they should be secured to a tight waist chain.

You're right, being handcuffed behind the back is very helpless.

Thank you. And it’s very uncomfortable whether it’s handcuffed behind or using a waist chain.

We decide in front or in back or in front with a belly chain depending on what the Jailer has for an objective and how much attention the Jailer will provide.
A belly chain with Martin link isn’t that uncomfortable unless one of the handcuff boxes is added to prevent escape even with a key.
Hinged handcuffs in back make for a nice and secure “punishment” for a couple hours.

Thank you very much! I've tried it all with the exception of handcuff boxes, but I still find waist chains uncomfortable. It seems like you know a lot about handcuffs and prison.

What little I know about prisons and prisoner handling is from pictures from news and Internet articles. As for handcuffs, one can learn a lot as a collector.

Behind the back leaves one totally helpless. In front is great for a fun play.
Keep in mind that handcuffs can and should only be worn for short periods. For serious bondage play handcuffs are really not suitable. Leather cuffs or alternative restraints need to be considered.

police (at least in the U.S.) never cuff in front. Behind is the only secure and safe method.

WHY are handcuffs not suitable for serious bandage play? Keep in mind there are many different brands and styles of handcuffs.
The police don’t seem to agree that handcuffs should only be worn for short periods. A prisoner scheduled to appear in court will most likely be handcuffed for the entire day.
Handcuffs unlike ropes don’t need to be terribly tight to be secure and don’t cut off circulation if left on for a few hours.

The situation seems to be just the opposite in handling prisoners but their hands are secured to their waist.

Thanks for the advice, but I do have experience being handcuffed for long periods of time.

I agree with you, handcuffs can indeed be worn for long periods of time.

I can use police style handcuffs during the whole day but not at night. I tried to sleep in metal handcuffs and in the morning I woke up with pain in my wrist. This is why I sleep with leather cuffs: I use them every night and I have no problem

Try a set of Darby style handcuffs. They are much more rounded and comfortable.

I have used them and they are definitely more comfortable. But for some "reasons", it is not up to me to decide what kind of handcuffs I will be put on. Sometimes the requirements are just uncomfortable.
