Are men more shy than women?
RE: Are men more shy than women?
An article in 'Caption Contest' made me think about the strange contrast in face-pictures of men and women in kinky pictures - or sex-pictures in general. When some girl is tied up and ... cared for ... we see her face, her genetials - just anything. Well, I like that, as that's a good reason for me to watch the picture at all!But the devious person tieing her up, tormenting her, having her scream in extacy is often hidden in various degrees - either by being dark or by being hooded. Or simply left out of the scene. Now I know, many women fantasize about being 'taken' by an 'unknown' man, still the contrast is puzzling. Perhaps it's more shameful for a man to whip a woman than it is for a woman to be whipped? Or it causes more concern, if a guy admits, he really likes putting a girl in agony, than if a girl admits a desire to be handled roughly?Or perhaps men are simply more shy than women?TeaSer2011-12-02 02:22:52

Would you put out there for the world the evidence that a court could easily turn to being abussive. Remember in most cases courts no longer listen to the vidtim that it was consentual because in their high and mighty morals a person couldn't want to be tortured. And in a few cases it might be shy. But I agree that it is nice to have the facial expression in the photos. usually the expression is what makes the photos so good. Seen many where the model basically looked bored. and so many other great ones where you could see that they were really enjoying thmeselves.

RE: Are men more shy than women?
Maybe a few theories:
1. Perhaps the point of the pictures/video/media is to focus on the woman and not the man. Statistically speaking more men use pornography than women (women prefer emotions and concepts to visuals and action) and most men want to see the woman and not the man. In a kinky setting, there seems to be a focus on the victim of the action. Dominants like seeing submissives and submissives like imagining themselves as the submissives.
2. Also consider that it is the submissive that has toys used on her and so to view the toy (dildo/flogger/wand/etc) you view the submissive and maybe the hand holding it.
3. At least from my perspective, there is more you can do to "decorate" a female than a male and more to "decorate" a sub than a dom. Subs wears all sorts of fetish clothing and bondage devices while doms don't have as many options to wear (and have jeans and t-shirt as an acceptable option). Women have infinitely more options for clothing with lingerie styles and different cuts of clothing and they also have hair and nails and makeup and shoes and accessories while men don't have as many options. If you are going to show off a female, you have a lot of ways to style her. If you are going to show off a male, there are fewer ways to style.
4. There are more iconic females than iconic males, at least visually. People have a concept what a dominatrix looks like but there is less of a universal concept of a male dominant. People have more of an idea of what a female submissive looks like from famous models but less of an idea of what a male submissive looks like.

Some, Like me, Worry about how it can impack their professional life. Perspective employers might look down on upon u if they google your name and a pic of you tied up in high heels a rope and gag....pops up. Not to mention it is really hard to explain away lol.
RE: Are men more shy than women?
While I agree with most comments, I might clarify that in many pictures/movies, the male dominant is blurred or even wear a hood - while the submissive does indeed get shown with little disguise. Of course this could be because of the submissives being models so they once and for all, accepted being connected with those things.Thebleedingback: I'm well aware of your reasons not to want your identity in public! I have exactly the same objections. However those should apply to both genders - a woman pictured tied up, her cunt forcefully opened and at full display would have the same 'explanation'-problems.BondageLover: I don't understand your comment. Do you mean you have posted some ideas and noone here wanted to discuss them?

I'm sure most of the above comments apply in different situations. One of the more common reasons might be, as knotseraph said, the man or dom is just not the primary focus of the pictures or video.
The dom or dominatrix would be the main focus though if the video was shot in such a way as to show the entire session from only the sub's viewpoint, but there would still be the problem of what a dom should ideally look like (if in doubt have him wear a hood). Unless it wouldn't matter~ the viewer would be so distracted by the sub's point of view of her body trussed in rope!

RE: Are men more shy than women?
I always thought that from the subs point of view: you don't get to see the dom so that the sub can imagine their dream dom. From the Dom's point of view: there isn't a face, so they can fill in their own or just watch the looks on the sub with out the other distraction.Or the simple idea that no one wants to see the painter, they want to see the painting...

depends on the situation. if I know that she is single .. I might not be so shy. and probably will not find that perfect woman who enjoys the same things I do.

RE: Are men more shy than women?
This one believes men more want to see pictures of a naked females than women like to see pictures of completely naked men. Hence, so women are less shy about posting their erotic pictures and men may be trying to be more gentlemanly about what they post online not to come across in the wrong way to females.
This one will be honest and tell that she does not like the first thing she sees of men in their wankers either but prefers a polite conversation to start but has no probs in displaying herself to men.
hmmm maybe women have become more accepting in putting up their pictures because men so much love to admire them. Maybe men do not do so as often because women have rejected them for doing so????

Women's bodies are temples to beauty but most men shouldn't be seen naked with the light still switched on. Maybe that's why we see more naked (or interestingly dressed)women - long may it last.Steve
Happily married (but always ready to flirt) wife not into anything kinky so it's self bondage when I can.

I got a theory on this....Porn is a guy thing... (ok, some girls will admit it...)Guys like to see nakid girls, not nakid guys...The guys want to picture himself there, not see someone else there...
All advice is checked, re-checked and verified to be questionable...
